Hi all! As you can see I pushed from 45 to 51 (!) in the course of three days. Holla! Thanks to all for word of mouth or sprinkling magic voodoo dust on my blog, ‘cause I got there!
I’m sad to say the contest I put up on Monday was a total bust, which makes me sadface. One person sent me a recipe. One. That awesome person was Odie from The Simple Life! Here is the recipe for his chili that he sent me (yum):
1 3 lb bag of onions cut up but not too fine
1 Bell pepper cut up but not too fine
1 bunch of green onions cut up, everything but the root end
3 16oz cans of red kidney beans
1 2 ½ size can of Rotele tomatoes with green chilis
1 lb package of stew beef meat cut into bite size pieces
3 tbs Worchestershire sauce
Cut up the entire bag of onions, whole bunch of green onion and green bell pepper. Saute in olive oil until softened. Add tomatoes, beans, salt, pepper, Worchestershire sauce, chili powder, cumin, minced garlic and chicken broth and stir well. Add the meat and cook on medium heat for 45 minutes stirring occasionally.
Serve with shredded cheese on top and corn chips go well with this.
You can vary this by using regular diced tomatoes instead of Rotel which is hot and if you can get textured vegetable protein which is in cube form and dark in color it takes on the flavors of the spices and sauces and gives the same texture as meat & is very good. If you have trouble finding it I can help there too.
Since I only got one entry from 46-51 I hereby close the contest due to lack of interest. I will have to do something cooler or more innovative for the push to 75, or 100, or whatever. Y’all missed out on some cool stuff! Since Odie was kind enough to send me this recipe, he will be getting one of the Australian knick knacks that I was offering. I’ll be e-mailing you for the info, Odie!
